It’s Wednesday and I don’t like it. It’s supposed to be Caturday.
I find Wednesdays to be worrisome. They seriously are. Because through the week, I’ve watched the Critters have fun with the Can Opener while she teaches them, guides them through their lesson plans, plays with them and takes care of them.
All the while I’m wanting the her attention. I have to wait all day to get my brushng, playtime and cuddles after they go home for the day. The problem with that is, Twilight comes flying into the room and steals the attention I would otherwise have. She even did it first thing this morning as soon as the Critters arrived.
She sauntered right into the living room and immediately presented her butt to the Tiny One for a back scratch, and immediately everyone started talking about how cute she is. That is, everyone but me.
Thanks For stealing my attention, Twilight!
It’s my turn now!
I wish it was Caturday- because then I get the Can Opener all to myself.
I can’t play outside unless I want a shower- and from the looks of it, If this keeps up, I’ll need to swim! But I am (sort of) thankful for the rain. Because now there’s no more wildfire smoke choking out my air and making my fur smell like awful.
And, it does keep my grass beautifully soft and green, and makes it grow better so I have plenty of places to lurk around waiting for Sheba to saunter by so I can jump out and scare the whiskers off her!!!
Mom- I’m not doing “A little Obsessed!”
I’m also thankful that The Can Opener is making Sushi exercise every day- but I think she gets more of a workout sharpening her claws on the mat, than she does playing and constantly trying to follow her food dish until the human sets it down.
I need it to stop raining though- even though the humans love it- because the little Critters will be here tomorrow, and if it’s raining, and they’re stuck inside, and I’m stuck inside, it’s not going to be good…..I just may be tempted to get micheivious…just sayin.’
It was a very happy day for the Can Opener. The Critters’ Mom is her daughter and she doesn’t get to see her very often, so yesterday morning she had hardly finished a cup of coffee when she was surprised by the little Critters and their parents suddenly appearing at their door loaded with goodies they had brought to make breakfast for them and spend the day visiting!
Our Can Opener has been dealing with a ton of stress lately – (the Critters’ parents also)- and they have always been close and constantly in touch. But while texts, calls and marco polos are great, they can’t take the place of sitting down face to face with coffee in relaxed conversation, and just enjoying being together and watching the Critters play as they talk about their day to day lives, their workouts, and current events.
Family is important. Family bonds are important- and are critically important for healthy well-balanced children. But it’s also important to take the time to do things that will bring joy and relief to your loved ones. With all the things going on in our nation over the last year and a half, everyone is feeling unsettled- and downright betrayed by our own so-called leaders, who frankly are only good at “leading” our nation over a cliff.
During times like these, realize that when you are feeling discouraged, or alone, many others are too. Even if it isn’t being discussed, everyone is feeling wearied and betrayed by our own leaders. Please take the time to connect with your families and friends. And this is not the time to be battling your families. Don’t let anger, bitterness and unforgiveness settle in your hearts and divide your families. The government is doing a wonderful job of that without your help.
Remember how much they meant to you before Coronavirus was ever heard of- before all this madness started and everyone began to collectively lose their minds. Remember who you were before all this. Remember how important your loved ones were to you then.
Your loved ones could be lost at any moment in all this nonsense because people seem to forget that regardless of the color of our skin, our ethnicity, our religion, or who we voted for- we all have something in common. We are HUMAN BEINGS, and we all deserve respect, honor and consideration. Most of all, we are all Americans. This is the time to stand together as one and not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good.
Remember, there will always be evil and darkness in this world around you- but you don’t have to let it get IN your heart, and take over your thoughts.
Also remember, that when you feel anxious or discouraged, your pets feel it also.
Finally a warm, sunny day to monopolize the yard. It’s about time!
Twilight and I decided last night that I’m the cutest.
Just don’t tell her I said so. By the time we came to that decision, I was tired of talking and fell asleep leaving her to talk to whatever mice she might find. I mean, really, I don’t see the point of the discussion anyway. Some things are just facts that can’t be disputed. One of these days, she’ll finally quit arguing with me.
Speaking of cute cats, I decided since it’s Caturday, it’s time so share some other cute cats- since nobody can look at cats for long without smiling. It’s a good way to start the day. You’re welcome.
Grumpy always brings a smile.
Must be a critter in the house lurking around someplace.
Finally, a cat with my point of view!
Again, another cat with my point of view!
I wouldn’t advise these cats to say what they’re thinking.
I want to post about how beautiful and sweet I am. Twilight disagrees. We’re discussing it.
This could get heated.
Sushi and I can’t decide what to post about. The Can Opener has been waiting for us to make up our minds. But I’m not the problem. I want to post about me, and Sushi doesn’t want to.
Meanwhile the rewards are waiting for us to come to an agreement. Looks like it’s going to be a long night.
Well, at least she came to the living room to discuss it …(because it’s strategically close to the kitchen).Let’s sleep on it Twilight. *Snore*
That’s it, Human. Good little human. Now hand over the treats and you can go have your coffee.
Training Your Human and the other pests in your house
Greetings fellow felines. It’s been a while since I’ve done some lessons on training those moronhumans of ours. That’s because I’ve been so busy training my humans and Sushi that I’ve barely been able to keep up with my busy napping schedule.
As you may know by now, The Can Opener around here has been trying to help Sushi the fat cat to lose weight. I don’t think it’s working. She still is the small mountain in the middle of the rug that they have to walk around. So, being the great trainer that I am, I’ve been busy trying to assist the human in training Lardbutt- How?
Well, when I encounter a mountain in the middle of the living room, I climb it. (Sushi doesn’t like that), and since it makes her mad, she sits up to swat me. MISSION ACCOMPLISHED! It makes her sit up and move! MWAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!
GET UP AND MOVE!KNOCK IT OFF, FLEA!
Sometimes that’s the only way to get her to exercise. The Human tries to play with her, but sometimes she will only play for a little bit, and the human is dealing with the small critters all day (most days) too.
THAT’S MORE LIKE IT!
Now, when you work so hard to help your human do something, you should be rewarded, right? That’s what treats (and playtime for you) are all about.
If your human is too busy to play, you can trick them into it, by head bunting them, “asking for pets” … when they start to pet you, sit there and purr for a few minutes, then gently wrap your paws around their hand and attack! Not too hard, though- if you do it too hard, they’ll get upset and stop playing. They’re a little bratty that way.
Sometimes you also have to give them some gentle hints. Like dragging your favorite toy to them and sitting there waiting for them to wake up and figure it out. This is what I had to do with my Can Opener this morning….
For heaven’s sake, human. Drink the coffee and wake up. It’s playtime!
Where’s my feather toy? Let’s play!
HIGHER! I want to take down that plant too!
GOT IT!
STOP! Time for a good scratch….
Okay! Time to go outside and hunt. Thanks for the warmup!
Now my morning is off to a good start. Playtime accomplished, training Sushi accomplished, and demanded treats given. Now I can go conquer the rest of the world!
Hey human- why are you on the computer instead of snuggling me on the couch? We need to talk!
My Can Opener has it all backwards this morning.
She’s supposed to post our blog in the evenings after the Critters go home for the day. But yesterday that didn’t happen- because after they went home, she worked out then launched into cooking dinner… (steak, sauteed broccoli, cauliflower, and carrots, and brown rice). She still just offered us the same old cat food.
How rude. I thought for sure that steak was for me and Twilight- why else would she make it? As far as the vegetables go, she can have those. Humans eat the strangest things, and not a mouse in the mix anywhere.
So by the time she was done with all that and the clean-up last night I was demanding my cuddle and grooming time and told her everything else could wait.
But I didn’t mean THAT! So this morning I’m sitting her down for a very serious talk about getting MY priorities in order! I’ve got to get her thinking straightened out again. More training.
But, at least she has provided me a new cozier spot to be with her when she’s at her desk- so I’ll give her a little break for that- as long as treats are included.
This is better….
but take off the blanket so I can scratch it up! Leather makes a great scratching post!
Well, It’s time for me to resume training this human, before the little critter keeps her hopping for the rest of the day. There had better be some treats heading my way soon!
