Friday Fab Felines

I want to introduce some of my Cat Careers graduates!

Fab Felines Cat Career Graduates

It’s been a while since I’ve done my Cat Career classes- but that’s only because my napping schedule is way behind. I’ve only slept 18 hours today, and I’m exhausted! However, I keep sniffing out skills that my fellow cat-mates have and show them how to develop them into careers!

For example, in my own career as a Cat Purrsonal Trainer, sleep is very important. That’s why I make sure to set a great example by consistently demonstrating effective napping techniques and the importance of staying on schedule.

You’re welcome.

Since Fab Felines are the topic today, I’m introducing some of my favorite students and their new careers!

Pixie- she has a thing for studying math. Now she’s a tutor.
Mittens- smarter than most kittens, I trained him as a remote technician.
Mitzi and Frank – comedians.
Slyvester always had an answer for everything.
Now he’s a politician.

Well, I’m late for my 8th nap, so that’s it for today! Enjoy! I’ll be back soon with more graduates!

“Tumbling Tom” was always a little weird. I got him a job in a psych ward at the local animal hospital.
Goodnight.

Thursday Thanks

You know, I’ve been thinking...

It’s been a while since I’ve counted my blessings. What about you?

The Can Opener says that everyone’s having a hard time no matter where she looks. And I overhear all the troubling reports that she hears (even without watching “the news”)- most troubling, especially is the shortage of baby formula- but also the looming ‘food shortages’ and all the other bad stuff.

I’ve also noticed that my human has been making a point of giving thanks and singing praise when she hears these reports. While it won’t change the things going on around us, what it does do, is change her perspective and lifts her above discouragement and and worry- and it keeps her blood pressure and stress under control too.

I’ve decided to start cultivating a thankful heart too. The Can Opener says a thankful heart isn’t automatic. You have to cultivate it. Like you would cultivate a garden. I don’t know exactly what “cultivate” means, but I get a feeling it means you practice being thankful. She says everyone has SOMETHING they can be thankful for.

Like breathing. No matter how bad things look, there are two things you can be thankful for if you’re reading this.

1.) You’re alive. That’s a definite plus. 2.) You’re breathing – (which is another plus)- 3.) you’re reading a blog post by the sweetest Siamese cat in America (whether you realize it or not).

See? Three reasons right there! Now let’s see if I can think of another reason;

There’s rain- POURING. While I hate the rain (it cramps my style)- the human loves it because it means less wildfires and it’s watering her garden and keeping my lovely back yard nice and lush and green.

But I’m most thankful that the Can Opener and Sushi and I have a place to call home so we don’t have to be out in the wet, cold weather. I’m thankful for my kitty treats, and food, and that the Can Opener is stocking up on our food- just in case.

I’m even thankful for Sushi…. (almost)- okay, I’m trying! I guess I am thankful for her, because she keeps the human distracted while I get into the butter.

The Can Opener is always brushing her and I get jealous. But she says she has to.

I’m also thankful for the big, furry pink blankie the grown critters got our Can Opener after the Backup Can Opener went to heaven in January. I melt into it and sleep so comfy- and I’m thankful that our human is doing better and isn’t overcome with grief. She’s getting counseling and is doing research on colon cancer- she has some plans she isn’t talking about just yet. Hopefully they’ll work out for her. Because then she’ll be even happier!

What are you thankful for?

Twilight’s Tuesday Therapy

You need to play with me more, Can Opener…

Play with your cats, or else…

Hey, humans- I know some of you are wound up tighter than a cheap clock these days- but did you know that we cats (and other pets you have) can feel your tension and anxiety too?

Humans use different things to relieve their stress- like vegging out in front of the tv (which can also cause stress)- getting on social media (which not only can drain hours out of your day, but can also add to your stress), and play video games (which can be good- but not for endless hours)… and some do better things like spending time with friends, reading, and exercise- or better yet, going to the beach, parks, or any place that is fun and relaxing.

But in case you never thought about it, there isn’t a lot your pets can do to relieve their anxiety if they are indoor pets, and particularly if you are preoccupied with other things and don’t spend time playing and interacting with them.

Did you know that playing and interacting with your pets helps relieve their feelings of loneliness and anxiety? It not only makes them happier, and gives them some exercise and stimulation, but it’s great for helping you to relax, feel less lonely and anxious, and even lowers your blood pressure!

And just as people don’t like to be ignored, or feel lonely, neither does your cat.

And like people, when cats get bored and lonely- they just might take matters into their own paws… *just sayin’. *

The real reason for the toilet paper ‘shortage.’

And if your cat gets jealous because you spend too much time on the computer, well- he might decide to do something to get your attention…

You’ve been warned!

And if you get too busy to feed the cat, watch out when you go to fridge again- you may get an unpleasant reminder that the cat wants to eat too…

Just a subtle reminder….

And if you don’t play with your cat, they will find other ways to get their exercise and entertainment…

Open the door, Human. We have a guest for lunch!

Trust me, it’s just easier to play with your cat in the first place!

Happy Mother’s Day!

Sushi and I want to wish all you Moms (and Grandmas, and Great Grandmas, and Great, Great Grandmas) …..
Get to the point Twilight- you’re keeping me AWAKE!

As I was trying to say, Happy Mother’s Day!

We know that Moms have the hardest job in the world and also the least appreciated job. Moms never get a day off, they don’t get sick pay, they don’t get holidays off, and if we had to pay them for sitting up late at night with sick children (or husbands)- or pay them to deal with temper tantrums, make healthy meals day after day, pay the bills and balance the budget, do all the laundry, (often while also juggling a job)- and de-crank cranky kids – Nobody could afford them!

Our human says Moms (and grandmas) deserve a lot more respect and honor than just one day a year can offer. We’re just cats- and our cat mamas don’t do half the stuff that those human moms do- so we just want to take a few minutes from our busy napping schedules to say thanks to all you Moms (and Grandmas) – out there who love your children, teach them to respect others, and to be responsible and kind.

You are making the difference for generations to come.

And with that- we want to start your day off with a smile! 😻

I made you breakfast, Mom.
Okay Mom, you can let go now.
You always make me feel better about myself!
I had a present for you Mom but I got hungry and it disappeared!

Sushi’s Nip-Crazed Caturday

Oh, I’m so HAPPY!

She bought us CATNIP!!

We’ve had problems with our internet connection for the last couple of days- for some reason, everytime we have stormy weather here, the internet goes out. So Twilight and I have been itching to get our paws on the laptop again -(she to complain, me to brag)!

It’s been pouring rain for the last couple of days- (on and off all day long)- and Twilight has been miserable since she couldn’t go outside (without getting wet).

So this morning the Can Opener brought out the catnip and I got so EXCITED! But not Twilight-

I don’t understand why you act so silly with that stuff, Sushi- it’s just GRASS!

Twilight thinks I’m crazy for loving this stuff- so when Mom brought it out she just stared at me like I’m a lunatic, while I rolled all over the rug and got crazy. It was the most fun I’ve had in a whole week!

Twilight lost interest in playing after Mom brought out the catnip and decided to go out in the rain after all and intimidate a squirrel or two. That’s fine with me, because after I got tired of playing, it was grooming and cuddle time (my favorite)!

Mom said all this fur could’ve ended up in my tummy making me sick!

Why did she say she could make a whole new cat from this?

She listened to this guy- maybe you should too!

Sushi’s Musings

I’ve been hearing some unbelievable things from the Can Opener!

The Can Opener says some cats are naughty!

I just can’t believe cats ever misbehave, because I know I’m such an angel… no, really! I don’t ever fight with other cats at all- (I just smack Twilight when she insists on pawing at me to make me play when I don’t want to) – but that’s not naughty- that’s discipline! These young twerps these days just don’t like to take “no” for an answer!

I also notice Sheba’s naughtiness- she keeps her Mom up all night long and won’t let her sleep- and every time Twilight follows our human when she goes next door to visit her sister, that crazy Sheba hisses and fluffs up her tail and chases Twilight out of the house! Even when Sheba comes here, she tries to chase Twilight off her own cat tree! But Sheba won’t mess with me, because I’ll eat her. (Not misbehaving- I just have a great appetite)!

Psycho Sheba

I even hear that some cats eat houseplants – (a vegan CAT?), and some attack toes- (Twilight, are you listening)? And others poop outside the litterbox! I never do these things because I’m a good cat – but from what I hear, these things can really upset the humans and cause some problems. So I decided maybe I should pass on the video my Can Opener found while doing research to help her sister not to be so fur-rustrated with Sheba.

Check this out- maybe it’ll help you or someone you know who has a very mischievous cat!

Just remember you heard it from Sushi- the good cat!

Morning Coffee with Sushi

One of these days, human. One of these days!

That Lunatic Can Opener did it again-

I’m really getting tired of this- every time I so much as sneeze the Can Opener takes me to the vet. Just because I’m older. I protest, but she does it anyway. I’m not sick, but again the other day she took me in for a shot. She said I was “due for a distemper booster” – and in spite of all my objections, she whisked me away anyhow- and on top of that she had them trim my beloved claws!

I don’t know what a “distempter” booster is, but it must have worked- because it definitely boosted my TEMPER! And this morning I’m still sore from that shot and yet the Can Opener still insists on picking me up to groom me. I smacked her a zillion times with my tail this morning, but that didn’t stop her from grooming me anyway. And now I’m exhausted and need a nap.

Actually, I do feel better since she groomed me, but I’ll never let her know it!

Leave me alone Mom. Wake me up when you buy sardines.
