This is mine. Back off!

Cat claiming a box for playtime.
This is MINE. You can’t open this package, Mom. This box is my toy perch now.

I know it was sent to you- but it’s MINE now.

Yes, Mom. I know my big bag of food is inside- but I’m not hungry- and besides, I haven’t finished the first bag. So that means this is my new play perch, and you can’t open it. It’s just the right size for me to perch on so I can swipe at you when you walk by- and the best part is, Sushi can’t get up here!

Just buy me another bag because if you open my box It’ll fall when I try to jump up here. But hey- why don’t we play while you think about it?

By the way, Mom- don’t tell Sushi I said it, but you need to give her the eye treatment now….while I go hide!

And after that, maybe you can tell me why you left me and Sushi alone yesterday —ON EASTER— and came back smelling like Serafina and Abby??

This better be good….

Before you answer, just remember who I’m related to….

Look what Twilight did!

No, I’m not coming out of my box. Twilight broke it. It’s MINE!

Twilight needs a diet, Mom.

Mom, why is it I’m on a diet, but not Twilight? Look what she did to my box! She slept in it and flattened the whole side of it! And left her fur all over my favorite green blankie.

Now when I want to go hide under my bed, I have half a box left! Now I’m going to go flatten her box, and leave my fur on her favorite blankie- but you need to order me a new box, okay? And how about washing my blankie, so I don’t get her fur all over me…I don’t want Smokey making fun of me about this- It’ll ruin my reputation.

And hurry up, with that new box order, okay? She’ll come flying in any minute now and try to take it over again unless you distract her with treats. By the way- where are those treats? I want to get my share before the little flea sucks them all up on her way to my box.

Hurry up, okay?

MOL! 😹 I’m not big enough to flatten your box, Sushi! You did it!! And, I already ate all the treats!

A New BOX! PARTYTIME!

It’s a NEW BOX – just for me! (Sushi get your own)!

A Sunny day, a new box, and the Can Opener!

When I heard the knock at the door, I darted under the bed, because it was a hard, loud knock- but a few seconds later after the Can Opener answered the door, I smelled something delicious coming from that big box. It was more of my favorite food! But then, when the bag came out, there were big sheets of pawsome brown paper inside (I LOVE CRINKLY PAPER)- And before the Can Opener walked away with the food, I pounced into the box to try it out!

I claimed it immediately! Then I hinted at the Can Opener to put some more tissue paper in it and the next thing I knew, I was having the time of my life!

Sushi, however, isn’t impressed with the box- (she has her own favorite)- So I had fun circling under the flaps of the box and swiping at my favorite wand toy (with all the pretty bows that I just can’t seem to untie- yet) … Give me time, and I’ll untie every one of those pretty bows!

Sushi on the other hand, was just watching the show. And bathing. And bathing. And BATHING…

And barking at the Can Opener to come brush and cuddle her.
Now I’m all played out. But I informed the human that the box STAYS.

The Can Opener’s Guilt Offering

A new bed to ignore!
The bed was expensive- so I can never let her see me in it. I’ll use the box instead.
That’s the reason I can’t use it.
HEY! YOU ALREADY HAVE ONE!
Don’t be an idiot, Twilight. It’s so COMFY!
She bought me one just like it.
So if you won’t use it, I’ll use it in the evenings when Mom’s on the computer.
And now I have TWO. Go use your box.

Fine! Then I’ll take this one back!

Twilight’s Tuesday Thanks

Man, this is a NICE bed.

We all have things to be thankful for – Here’s some of mine:

With things going crazy like they have been for months now, my humans keep saying that it’s more important than ever to look for the blessings in our lives and be thankful for what we have.

Here’s some of the things I’m really REALLY thankful for:

  • Sushi (yep). She has proven that mountains REALLY CAN move.
  • Coffee and the Bible. Yep. That’s the only thing that the Can Opener slows down for.
  • The Can Opener. That’s because she and the Backup Can Opener gave me a home when I was just a little kitten and was always hungry and cold. Now I’m spoiled rotten and I plan on keeping it that way.
  • The Critters. They lavish love and treats on me every time they’re here, and they don’t care if I’ve already been fed or have already had “too many treats.”
  • Bugs, Birds, Butterflies, and Mice. They give me something to chase and play with when the Can Opener is too busy with everyone else to play.
  • Amazon boxes. Amazon was made for cats. Cats love boxes- Amazon sends my food in boxes. Human adds thick, soft blanket and sticks it under the bed, and *poof!* Instant hiding spot when the Critters come.
  • Paper bags. Another great hiding place and fun to pounce on!
  • Sushi. (Again). Everyone needs someone to play fight with- (but she’s not usually playing).

And I’m thankful for all of you who visit my blog every day! You make me very happy!

"I leave the gift of peace with you-- my peace.
Not the kind of fragile peace given by the world,
but my perfect peace.
Don't yield to fear or be troubled in your hearts-
instead, be courageous!" John 14:27

The Boxing Match

Me in my cozy brand new box!

It’s MINE and you can’t have it, Sushi!

The Can Opener opened a present from her neighbor last night and as soon as she put the box down, I fell in love with it and climbed right in to take a nap- but Sushi saw it too, and tried to take it from me. frrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrddddddddd7oiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii – (She just walked across the keyboard to try and stop me from telling on her- I’m lucky the keyboard still works)!

I told her right away to back off from MY box! I saw it first, and I claimed it! Well, Mom was watching, so she pretended to say, “Okay, Twilight”- and she acted really sweet, and came and gently licked my ear, and groomed me…for about 30 seconds.

Then, she heard the Can Opener say, “Oh Look! That’s so cute!”

And then, the Battle for the Box began! It went something like this….

She flattened my precious BOX! So, when the Can Opener saw that she was just trying to take my box, she told Sushi she can’t do that. I didn’t think that was going to help anything, but Sushi actually seemed to understand what she said! And she hung her head and got out and just laid down next to the box! And she hasn’t bothered me about it again!

It must be my siamese martial arts finally kicking in….I WON!! MWAHAHAHAHA!!!

How to Cat (Christmas Style)

Keep them Confused.

Act like you’re desperate to play, then refuse to take the bait.

Attack Everything.

Be too cute to be ignored.

Eliminate Temptation for the Humans.

Always be thankful!

And snuggly.

A NEW BOX!

Oh my gosh! My “Rearrange Everything” tactic worked better than I’d hoped!

I think I’ll keep the Can Opener.

My tactics are very effective.

After all, I took this human Can Opener from being completely clueless – (trust me)- to an expert in one lesson! After I finished typing my little paws off yesterday in the first lesson about Playtime being a ‘fundamental cat right’, I went outside to stir up some trouble, I mean, hunt mice, and when I came inside there was a brand new BOX waiting for me! And, it wasn’t just a big, empty box-

It was a brand new bag of my favorite Rachel Ray cat food!

Okay, Human. Past transgressions are (temporarily) forgiven. Just don’t let them happen again. That was the best part of my day- until the human started bringing out the ping-pong balls, and toy mice and the measuring tape and started playing with me. The kicker was, I didn’t do anything (this time) to make her!

She even played ball with me!

Then I messed up my fur and had to take a bath.

I still wanted to play after my bath- but it was naptime!
