The Can Opener’s schedule keeps changing but it’s finally Caturday and I have her all to my cute little self- (when Sushi’s sleeping, that is). So I’ve been a little crazy this morning, you know- zipping in and out of the house, and up on top of the desk so I can hit Mom in the head with my silvervine sticks from above while she’s on the computer.
It’s a good thing she doesn’t have a temper, because when I did it she had just sat a fresh cup of coffee on the desk, then got herself a bowl of cottage cheese and blueberries, and before she could even pick up her spoon, I knocked the silver vine stick off the top of the desk and it fell within 1/4 of an inch of her breakfast.
Man, my aim is off lately! I need more practice!
Earlier I hopped up onto the dresser in the bedroom and discovered a great felt-lined box that just had to be put there just for me- (it had a bird on the lid, so why else would it be there)? So I got Mom to open it for me, so I could check it out- but she needs to stretch it, because I can’t fit into it very well.
After that, I teamed up with my Mama who had stopped by for breakfast, (and mid-morning snack, and lunch-) and we tormented the neighborhood squirrels for a while. Sheba came outside and got mad that my Mama was breathing her air, and tried to chase her away- but the Can Opener heard my Mama cry out and she got MAD at Sheba and chased her away!!! 😹
Now I’m tired and ready to steal the heating pad and take a nap- then I’ll take some of these suggestions from my friends for fun when I wake up!
Wait – No. Why should I give the spotlight to other cats who clearly aren’t as cute as me?
Oh. THAT’S Why. The Can Opener says I have to. She really is getting on my last nerve.
Since the Can Opener is starting a little LATE with our post today (she’s getting on our last nerve) … We decided to show you some cats being at their ultimate Caturday Cuteness. Of course, Sushi had to insist on being first.
I love Caturdays! The house is quiet, the Can Openers aren’t as busy, and snuggle sessions are longer and sweeter.
I sneak a lap or two of coffee when the human walks away from her cup for a minute, and snuggle up in her lap when she sits down to enjoy it. The next thing I know, I’m groomed, and freshened and fall asleep feeling unbelievably content and loved.
But Caturdays are the very best.
Twilight gets her snuggles and eats then runs outside to find her Mama and they play and hunt together- while I keep the human company and get snuggles as she has her morning coffee and devotion. And throughout the day she plays with me and spoils me.
When I remember how lonely and unwanted I was before I came here, I can’t believe that life is finally over for me. It’s like I died and went to kitty heaven! Before I wasn’t talked to or handled (unless I was being left someplace)- and when I was left with others they didn’t interact with me because I wasn’t wanted. Sometimes I knew I was downright unwelcome. It was no fun being left in temporary places while my previous human discarded me for long trips. And it always hurt my feelings that after being gone for a long time, she was never happy to see me.
But I’m so happy now. No more long, lonely days wondering if or when I’ll see my “owner” again- and being hurt when she returned because she didn’t want to take me home. Even though I fight with Twilight sometimes (because I don’t always want to play)- I’m still so happy, because I have a family now. And they WANT ME.
I wonder how many other cats there are out there who aren’t loved and wanted? I know there have to be more – and I just wish I could give them hope that someday, somehow- they’ll have a happy family too.
Our Caturday started late thanks to that Can Opener of ours staying up until 2:00 this morning determined to finish a birthday present she was making for the oldest Critter who turned 12 today.
I wasn’t happy that instead of getting up at 4 am like a good little Can Opener, the little bratty human decided to sleep in til 7:30 and only woke up because Sushi and I teamed up to drag “Her Laziness” out of bed to feed us.
I raced across her in the bed 3 different times at high speed, and when she still slept, I bombed the bedroom blinds and smacked them repeatedly with my tail.
Our Morning Grooming
So as usual, Sushi and I race ahead of the Can Opener in the morning, helping her find her way to the kitchen to make sure she doesn’t forget where to find our food waiting to be released from the prison of the can. God knows without coffee, she hardly knows her name so she needs all the help she can get.
On the way to the kitchen, I stopped to thank Sushi and to congratulate her for her talent on getting this moron out of bed and we started grooming each other. Then all of a sudden, Sushi got wild and started smacking me! Of course, her tummy growled, but good God! She doesn’t have to be a flipping LION about it!
