Meme Monday

Why does 4:30 am come so early? I’m going back to sleep!

Memes to kick-start your week!

It’s that time again- time to start another week! Did you know your mindset when you first wake up every morning -(not just on Mondays)- will determine the rest of your day?

There are two things the Can Opener starts her mornings with regardless of how she feels when she wakes up- the first is thanksgiving. She thanks The Lord every morning for a new day to know His goodness, love and grace-

She thanks Him for getting her safely through this last year- (with sanity intact)- she thanks Him for the fact that she was safe as she slept, for the ability to see clearly, to breathe without need of assistance- to take care of her own physical needs, and for all her mental and physical abilities that so many even younger than she have lost.

Then, she thinks Him for humor! For us kitty girls, because we give her lots of love and snuggles and make her laugh- and we keep her company.

The Lord showed her that no matter how she feels emotionally or physically when she wakes up in the morning, there is great power in giving thanks and choosing joy.

So this morning, we want to encourage you- no matter what may be going on in your life, to focus your thoughts on the good things in your life- to voice thanksgiving that you woke up today- and to expect that something GOOD will happen in your life.

Then- LAUGH. There is strength in joy. And here’s a few things to get you started in case you’re having a hard time today! Enjoy!

Twilight’s Tuesday Musings

I haven’t posted for a few days because I’ve been busy helping the Can Opener.

I’ve been working as the heating pad

It’s hard being a working cat. Since the Can Opener provided hospice care for the Backup Can Opener until he passed in January, she was spending a lot of time running around the hospital and staying there a lot and wasn’t able to keep up with her previous regular workout schedule. As a result, she’s now having some ligament problems and back pain and needed a heating pad to relieve the pain. So, since she likes me a lot better than the heating pad (and she doesn’t need a place to plug me in)- she put me to work and man, have I been busy! *sweats*

This lady is really cramping my style! Just LOOK AT THOSE BIG, FAT DUCKS!

I kept trying to get up and run off at first- because I’m a serious cat. I have ducks and mice to catch, dragonflies to chase, and stray cats to run off! Did she care? No! I was so irritated – especially when I could see the neighbor next door feeding the 30 or so ducks that come to the fence for the bread, he tosses to them.

I told her to use Sushi instead- she’s a queen-size heating pad whose content to lay like a stone for hours, anyway- but the Can Opener just gave me the uplifted eyebrow (uh-oh)- and just stared at me for a minute and then I realized…that’s why I was the one chosen. The Can Opener is hurting enough without a 16-pound speed bump laying on her knees.

(The huge bag of treats sitting next to her really had nothing to do with my decision to give her a break and be her heating pad, just so you know)!

Whew! I’m finally off for the day- time to go DUCK HUNTING!

Don’t miss your doctor appointments, human- I’ve got business to tend to!

I need to go turn those ducks right side up, Mom.

A Terrible, Awful, Miserable Monday

Was there a horrible catastrophy? No. Did someone get hurt? No. But it was still a terrible, awful, miserable Monday. Why?Because we are CATS and it was raining all day long and every time we tried to go outside and chase the squirrels that were taunting us from the tree branches, we got soaked. And cold. Very cold!

This guy at least had the big bag over his head!
We have never been so bored in all our 9 lives!

So since the Can Opener simply refused to serve us popcorn (or treats) while we watched the squirrels and birds taunting us, we decided to do the only thing any cat in his right mind would do… sleep!

It rained so hard and so long, even the ducks left!
How we were forced to spend our Monday!

Goodnight!

I’ll catch those squirrels in my sleep.
She can have the squirrels. I’ll have a nap.
