Thursday Therapy

Our Can Opener has had a lot to deal with this week. I told her to play with me and then call her grief counselor.

Inflation, hackers, pain and first Father’s Day, and 4th of July without the hubby.

Life has its trials, and since the first of this New Year, our Can Opener has had the same ones everyone else has- but has seen God move on her behalf every time. She’s learning that trials don’t have to mean defeat. Pain doesn’t have to equal quitting, and recurring holidays and special occasions without a spouse that has passed doesn’t have to mean lonliness, emptiness and depression.

She has learned to hold fast to her strength by the power of the Holy Spirit- who tells her to worship, not worry. To pray, not dwell on all the evil that is going on- and to give thanks for what she has, and what she can do, instead of complaining about what she doesn’t have or can’t do.

Oddly enough, even in the midst of it all, she is doing better now than she has in previous years. And, somehow has joy and unexpalinable peace in the middle of it all-

I hear her say that God has given us an open invitation to cast all our burdens, anxieties and fears on Him- (I Peter 5:7) – and when people don’t do that, they get overcome with anxiety, depression, fears and insecurities (who wouldn’t with the way things are right now)?

But she has learned that when she dares to just bring it all to Jesus and LEAVE IT THERE in His hands, things have a way of working out while she sings praise.

She says there really is power in prayer and singing praise. But only those who actually try it will discover it and experience the peace of God which surpasses understanding.

But- she also says God created cats for a reason too- Sushi and I keep her smiling, and load her up with cuddles when she’s in pain- since Sushi and I can’t visit you guys and help with whatever stress you’re going through- we’re sending some of our pals to brighten your day a little!

Give your kitties a hug! 😻

My turn at the vet- TODAY!

They assembled me all wrong!

I hope the Vet can fix me!

I guess this is why I have to go to the vet today- I feel fine- and I told Mom so- but for some reason she is insisting I have to go. I’m eating as usual, I’m playing as usual, picking on Sushi (as usual)- and chasing away all the would – be Can Opener stealers that keep showing up around here.

I’ve protested – but she’s not having it. And Sushi seems to be gloating that I’m going now. I’ll deal with her later!

NOOOOOOOOOOO! I’M NOT LEAVING!

I don’t wanna come out!
Well,… I like the tech and the vet- so MAYBE…

Well I’m glad I went now- (but I’m not letting Mom know)- the tech and the vet were so sweet to me and they didn’t poke me with any needles- and even offered me treats!

Best part is they told Mom I’m a very fit, healthy (and beautiful) little girl- and that my teeth look great! So, aside from them clipping my claws and recommending the Can Opener get me microchipped -(since I love to go out)- it wasn’t so bad. And (unlike Sushi)- I still weigh the same I did last year- 9.7 lbs of cuteness!

I just may forgive Mom- especially since she surprised me with a new dangly toy! 😹💚

The Sushi Diet Chronicles

Mom- Call an ambulance- Twilight’s about to need one!

MOM! Twilight’s touching me!

I’m telling you, Mom- if she tries one more time to “make me play”- she’s going to need an ambulance! I was minding my own business, scratching new holes in the rug, and all of a sudden out of nowhere, WHAP! SHE HIT ME!

I didn’t hit her; I was trying to help her learn how to work out. (Are you buying it)?
Yeah? I’m gonna work YOU out! Besides- we’re CATS, we don’t work out. You were picking on me you little flea!

See Mom? Here’s the proof!

See Mom? I think Twilight needs some therapy- and I need some treats. A tuna or two will do just fine, thank you.

Friday Fab Felines

Nice- but I don’t eat daisies until they bloom- thanks anyway!

Happy FURiday!

I’m a very busy cat- I’ve got birds to chase, butterflies to catch, creatures to spy on, and at least 4 baths to take before sunset.

So, I’m sharing some giggles before I get busy with my cattiness. Enjoy!

Keep growing, Critters- America needs more Can Openers!

Thursday Thanks

You know, I’ve been thinking...

It’s been a while since I’ve counted my blessings. What about you?

The Can Opener says that everyone’s having a hard time no matter where she looks. And I overhear all the troubling reports that she hears (even without watching “the news”)- most troubling, especially is the shortage of baby formula- but also the looming ‘food shortages’ and all the other bad stuff.

I’ve also noticed that my human has been making a point of giving thanks and singing praise when she hears these reports. While it won’t change the things going on around us, what it does do, is change her perspective and lifts her above discouragement and and worry- and it keeps her blood pressure and stress under control too.

I’ve decided to start cultivating a thankful heart too. The Can Opener says a thankful heart isn’t automatic. You have to cultivate it. Like you would cultivate a garden. I don’t know exactly what “cultivate” means, but I get a feeling it means you practice being thankful. She says everyone has SOMETHING they can be thankful for.

Like breathing. No matter how bad things look, there are two things you can be thankful for if you’re reading this.

1.) You’re alive. That’s a definite plus. 2.) You’re breathing – (which is another plus)- 3.) you’re reading a blog post by the sweetest Siamese cat in America (whether you realize it or not).

See? Three reasons right there! Now let’s see if I can think of another reason;

There’s rain- POURING. While I hate the rain (it cramps my style)- the human loves it because it means less wildfires and it’s watering her garden and keeping my lovely back yard nice and lush and green.

But I’m most thankful that the Can Opener and Sushi and I have a place to call home so we don’t have to be out in the wet, cold weather. I’m thankful for my kitty treats, and food, and that the Can Opener is stocking up on our food- just in case.

I’m even thankful for Sushi…. (almost)- okay, I’m trying! I guess I am thankful for her, because she keeps the human distracted while I get into the butter.

The Can Opener is always brushing her and I get jealous. But she says she has to.

I’m also thankful for the big, furry pink blankie the grown critters got our Can Opener after the Backup Can Opener went to heaven in January. I melt into it and sleep so comfy- and I’m thankful that our human is doing better and isn’t overcome with grief. She’s getting counseling and is doing research on colon cancer- she has some plans she isn’t talking about just yet. Hopefully they’ll work out for her. Because then she’ll be even happier!

What are you thankful for?

Sushi sees the Vet

I would laugh, but the Can Opener would take away my treats…

Our Can Opener can’t let me post right now because she has an appointment this morning- but she promised to let me post after that.

Unfortunately, I have to be nice to Sushi for a while- but believe me, I’ll make up for it later! Mol 😹

What was that about “being nice to me for a little while??” I can still sit on you, you know.

Friday Fab Felines

I love this chair, Human. Nobody else gets MY chair!

Cats that are (almost) as fabulous as Me!

It’s been busy around here for the last couple of days, and the Can Opener needs some rest. So, I told Sushi to sleep on the laptop so she couldn’t get online and spend time ignoring us to do her grocery shopping. At least, that was the plan.

Unfortunately, even though Sushi’s a whale, The Human was still able to pick her up. So, we had a long, boring day while she shopped online and then, did her grief counseling, and set up physical therapy appointments, and signed a new lease, worked out, and attacked the house with that electronic beast (AGAIN). I hate that big, noisy thing!

Now she’s in pain, and “can’t” play with us. We knew this was going to happen, but we couldn’t stop her from wanting to “get things done.”

Staying busy helps her deal with grief. But, when is there time to relax and play? So, since I can’t stop her from all this busy- stuff, I just sit and glare at by her and work on my guilt inducing glares. Apparently, she either isn’t noticing, or I’m losing my touch.

So, I consulted some of my cat pals in the neighborhood for ideas on how to distract her from her distractions and get her attention. I found some pals that are (almost) as cute as me. I’ll try some of their ideas and hope for the best!

I wonder what she’d do if I sunk my teeth into her desk drawer like this? Probably would hurt…
Maybe I’ll borrow her blow dryer like this guy did- if that doesn’t get her attention, nothing will!
Hey! This will WORK! Now I wait until she goes to bed….
Now, here’s an idea… If I sit in one of her favorite plants and stare like this, she just may wonder what’s up…
Well, not a bad idea for such a tiny little kitty. I’ll try this next.
And now I wait… She can’t stay awake forever!

We’re Just Too Cute. Really!

Hey, Sushi- how about you write our post for tomorrow? I just want to lay here and watch for My Mama to come for dinner- That way the Can Opener has more time to prepare a feast for Mom and me
What? But I’m taking a nap!
Well, fine. I need a snack now anyway- and besides, SOMEBODY needs to write about our cuteness- (mine, specifically)!

“Once upon a time, there was a Siamese cat, and a beautiful, highly intelligent Tortie, (who was also very beautiful and smarter than the little flea Siamese, and their human liked the Tortie more than the little white flea uh- other cat,….and…”

Oh NO! MY STORY DISAPPEARED!

Twilight, why did you do that!!!! It’s all your fault! And now my paws are hurting and I don’t want to type all that again- and anyway, everybody knows I’m the cutest…

Oh forget it! I’ll do it later- I need another nap.
Sushi, you’re such an idiot! *Sighs*

Caturday’s Crazy Cats

It’s a NEW BOX! And It’s just my size!

Sushi and I have been busy

I’ve been talking to Sushi about ways to get the Can Opener to settle down and do something to relax for a while and today we found just the thing- so we want to share it with you too. We didn’t think there were any cats cuter or more entertaining than us, but after seeing this handsome Siamese and the other clown cats in this video, we just may be wrong.

Well, Sushi may be wrong- I’m never wrong. And if this is wrong, it’s Sushi’s fault. *Just sayin’.*

Watch and laugh- but the Siamese is going to be my new boyfriend- (I’m going to tell him-Just so he knows).
