Good Grief!

Actually, there’s nothing good about grief…

Too many people are burdened by anxiety, stress, and grief- and cats are the cure.

Our Can Opener has had her paws full lately. And everywhere we look we hear bad reports and see a lot of anxious or grieving people. The Can Opener herself is still grieving- and so is her sister. But they know of several things that really help- (we’ll talk about those later)- but guess what? We cats are great therapists!

From the beginning time, humans have seen that their cats make them smile, bring them warmth and comfort, and give them a reason to get up in the morning. That’s because if they don’t get up in the morning, their cats will eat their donuts before they can have a chance to.

But besides serving as your faithful alarm clocks (to remind you of our 3 am feeding schedule), and helping you avoid those un-necessary calories in those donuts that you always regret eating later, cats are great for your mental health in a ton of other ways.

Grab your coffee and get ready to learn!

We help you stay on the Light Side. And help you learn what cookies are worth our your time.
We give you ideas for reining in those two-legged noise machines when you’re driving.

We’re great at keeping secrets.
We help you control those unruly pets.

And we’re always willing to sample your cooking- even when it’s a little “RARE.”
We keep your melons from rolling off the counter while you’re putting the groceries away. You’re welcome.

And we remind you to recycle those big boxes that you keep tripping over. This one’s MINE.

Thursday Therapy

Our Can Opener has had a lot to deal with this week. I told her to play with me and then call her grief counselor.

Inflation, hackers, pain and first Father’s Day, and 4th of July without the hubby.

Life has its trials, and since the first of this New Year, our Can Opener has had the same ones everyone else has- but has seen God move on her behalf every time. She’s learning that trials don’t have to mean defeat. Pain doesn’t have to equal quitting, and recurring holidays and special occasions without a spouse that has passed doesn’t have to mean lonliness, emptiness and depression.

She has learned to hold fast to her strength by the power of the Holy Spirit- who tells her to worship, not worry. To pray, not dwell on all the evil that is going on- and to give thanks for what she has, and what she can do, instead of complaining about what she doesn’t have or can’t do.

Oddly enough, even in the midst of it all, she is doing better now than she has in previous years. And, somehow has joy and unexpalinable peace in the middle of it all-

I hear her say that God has given us an open invitation to cast all our burdens, anxieties and fears on Him- (I Peter 5:7) – and when people don’t do that, they get overcome with anxiety, depression, fears and insecurities (who wouldn’t with the way things are right now)?

But she has learned that when she dares to just bring it all to Jesus and LEAVE IT THERE in His hands, things have a way of working out while she sings praise.

She says there really is power in prayer and singing praise. But only those who actually try it will discover it and experience the peace of God which surpasses understanding.

But- she also says God created cats for a reason too- Sushi and I keep her smiling, and load her up with cuddles when she’s in pain- since Sushi and I can’t visit you guys and help with whatever stress you’re going through- we’re sending some of our pals to brighten your day a little!

Give your kitties a hug! 😻

Twilight’s Tuesday Therapy

You need to play with me more, Can Opener…

Play with your cats, or else…

Hey, humans- I know some of you are wound up tighter than a cheap clock these days- but did you know that we cats (and other pets you have) can feel your tension and anxiety too?

Humans use different things to relieve their stress- like vegging out in front of the tv (which can also cause stress)- getting on social media (which not only can drain hours out of your day, but can also add to your stress), and play video games (which can be good- but not for endless hours)… and some do better things like spending time with friends, reading, and exercise- or better yet, going to the beach, parks, or any place that is fun and relaxing.

But in case you never thought about it, there isn’t a lot your pets can do to relieve their anxiety if they are indoor pets, and particularly if you are preoccupied with other things and don’t spend time playing and interacting with them.

Did you know that playing and interacting with your pets helps relieve their feelings of loneliness and anxiety? It not only makes them happier, and gives them some exercise and stimulation, but it’s great for helping you to relax, feel less lonely and anxious, and even lowers your blood pressure!

And just as people don’t like to be ignored, or feel lonely, neither does your cat.

And like people, when cats get bored and lonely- they just might take matters into their own paws… *just sayin’. *

The real reason for the toilet paper ‘shortage.’

And if your cat gets jealous because you spend too much time on the computer, well- he might decide to do something to get your attention…

You’ve been warned!

And if you get too busy to feed the cat, watch out when you go to fridge again- you may get an unpleasant reminder that the cat wants to eat too…

Just a subtle reminder….

And if you don’t play with your cat, they will find other ways to get their exercise and entertainment…

Open the door, Human. We have a guest for lunch!

Trust me, it’s just easier to play with your cat in the first place!

Sushi’s Monday

The Can Opener needs some time. We’re making her rest. Please bear with us.

Our Can Opener has had a lot going on, and lots of visitors.

We’re making sure she’s resting whether she likes it or not. (She doesn’t).

Therapy never worked for me, either.
Somebody needs therapy.
Just so you know, this is not about me or Twilight…

We’ll be back soon!

Full update coming soon

Thank you for not giving up on us.

Stage 4 Adenocarcinoma

Our humans are in the fight of their lives- but God is so good to them in it all. They are strong and Sushi and I are making sure they stay that way.

Their strength is from The Lord-not their own. So that’s good- because those two Can Openers wouldn’t have a chance otherwise!

Our Can Opener has almost forgotten its Christmas! The family was called in and she hasn’t had even time to think since all this started.

She asked me and Sushi to update you all and to thank you for not giving up on our blog- all of you are also her source of strength. Sushi doesn’t do anything but sleep and hiss when we walk to close to her tail, so I decided I’d better do it.

She also said she hopes none of you are also going through anything like this- and that you all have a purrfect Christmas!

We’ll be back!! We love and appreciate every one of you! 🎄
